On October 10, the International Day against Execution, Stand Up for the Abolishment of “Capital Punishment,” State Deliberate Murder, Globally!
In the world today, people are not solely victimized by poverty, homelessness, sicknesses, accidents etc; they are also sentenced to death in cold blood by oppressive governments. People are informed about their exact day and time of this bitter moment of saying farewell to life and executioners professionally “execute” these “sentences”. In this upside down world even children and adolescents are not immune against this phenomenon. In Iran under the rule of the Islamic Republic at least 71 children are on death row waiting their eighteenth birthday in order to be executed in front of the perplexed gazes of the public. They execute to terrorize people and to make them obedient in order to save their rule.
In a humane world only one such deliberate and state organized crime would suffice to cause the uprising and response of humanity that such actions deserve. In the world today, we hear the news of such state organized crimes on a daily basis together with a mass of justifications and alibis in order to show the situation as normal and to prevent the movement against such a situation.
However, the civilized and humanitarian people are against this situation; they object death penalty and do not accept such justifications. These people are against what the state does to society. The resistance of the people has given a new face to October 10th, the international day against capital punishment, this year. This year, on October 10th, the UN will have global prevention of capital punishment on its agenda; it will demand all the countries to stop and to abolish the death penalty. This is an important occasion in the history of struggle against state deliberate murder. This is happening due to the struggle of the people of the world and because of continuous efforts of human rights organizations.
Capital punishment is state sponsored deliberate murder; it is cruel, unjust, atrocious, and backward. We should arise to put and end to this atrocity that deeply wounds the body of humanity. In Iran under the rule of the Islamic Republic tens of thousands of people have been executed. However, capital punishment is widely detested by the Iranian people. The struggle against death penalty has expanded and been strengthened in the last few years and has become one of the main fronts of the fight of the people against the Islamic regime.
This year, October 10 should become the scene of impassioned international solidarity and alliance for abolishing the death penalty all around the world.
We can and we should prevent the oppressive and murderous governments from killing and assassinating individuals. We, together, should put an end to death penalty all around the globe.
Take part in actions and rallies against death penalty. Strengthen this important struggle in every possible way. We should act so that no government dares to execute people, openly or covertly, using a rope, a bullet or poison. Death penalty is atrocious and backward and it should be wiped out of human history.
Join the international movement against execution.
