“Political Prisoners should be released”, “Down with Dictator” and “Socialism or Barbarism”
Today, 22nd of October, Polytechnic University was scene of a fervent protest of students against the policy of prison, torture and oppression of the Islamic government. Students of the university were joined by students from other universities, adding their number to more than 500. they started protest gatherings in and around the University and again shouted their slogans against oppressive policies of the government and rose the rightful demands of Iranian people with their banners.
The gathering was started in early hours of today, around noon, and it continued with increasing number of students. Pictures of jailed students and banners with slogans like “Release the jailed students”, “Ahmadinejad! Release our classmates” were also raised. In continuation of the demonstration, Students read declarations from Universities of Tehran, Khaje Nasir and “Left activists and students of Tehran Universities”.
Then a student from Polytechnic University read “the Declaration of Socialist students” which was welcomed by students. Then students demanded the elimination of Student Basij from the campus. Slogans, which were written on red banners, included “Socialism or Barbarism”, “Political Prisoners should be released “Jailed Students should be released”, “Unity, Struggle, Victory”, “Student movement, an associate of Workers’ movement and Women’s movement” and also “for an independent student grouping” and the slogan of “Down with dictator” was repeatedly chanted and shouted.
Students from other universities tried to join the protesters but were barred to enter the campus by security forces. Students inside the University helped those outside to try to break the University gate. They succeded in breaking the ranks of Security, Police, and Protection forces but the Counter-rebellion Guards were called in and didn’t allow the students to break the door.
As reported by the “University Voice” weblog, student banners in today gathering included: “Unity, Struggle, Victory”, “No to War”, “Student, Worker, Teacher, Unity, Unity”, “Mahmood Salehi and Mansour Osanloo should be released”, “any foreign intervention is denounced”, “For an independent student grouping”, “Bread, Peace, Freedom” and several other red banners were also carried: “Down with dictator” and “Socialism or Barbarism”.
The Communist Youth Organization calls on students all over the country to join the protests of ranks of struggle and aggression toward the oppression policies of the Islamic Republic, in order to strengthen them and defend the rightful demands of Polytechnic University and other students demands and also the libertarian demands of Iranian people.
