During the last few months, the Islamic government has vastly attacked some of the Iranian students. Student activists have been arrested and punished, especially those students who participated on the student’s day ceremony at the universities. Students held the student’s day with socialist slogans like *socialism or barbarism*, they also declared their desire to unite with the workers and teachers in their strike and protest against the Islamic regime.
For these same reasons, many of the student activists have recently been deprived from studying by disciplinary committees and some of them have been prohibited from entering the university. At the same time four of the student publications’ logos was forged by the university’s mobilization (student’s branch of Sepah Pasdaran) in cooperation with the universities’ authorities; articles were written against Islamic government and Islam, giving the Iranian judge enough excuse to unlawfully and with no further enquiry or evidence arrest the students in charge and keep them in solitary confinements. In this case, the judge, prior to the trial and with no further investigation or evidence, claimed that he is certain that those articles were written by these students.
The names of these students are as follows: Ehsan Masonry, Ahmad Ghasaban, Majid Sheikhpoor, Majid Tavakoli, Meghdad khalilpoor, and Pouyan Mahmodian. Babak Zamanian was also arrested for taking part in the protest against Ahmadi nejad’s (president) speech. This speech was stopped, and Ahmadinejad scaped the scene when the students from Poly Technique University started charting slogans like “get lost fascist”. Babak is now in solitary confinement in Evin prison, he has heart condition and his life is serious danger.
The students have been kidnapped from their houses and from the streets and they were beaten so bad that as an example Ehsan Masonry’s shoulder was broken in the arrest by the Iranian Police. Any news or information about these students had been kept from their families, who had no knowledge of their children’s arrest for a long time. These students are now under the wildest torture, until they confess to what they’ve never done!
These students are under torture and threat, and need protection. We need to protest against these savage acts of the Iranian authorities.
SJK (Communist Youth Organization) wants all groups defending human rights, student unions, workers unions and all the liberal people all around the world to support these innocent prisoners in any way they can, by signing petition or sending their individual letters condemning these acts of the Iranian authorities. Political prisoners and students should be unconditionally freed.
